The latest figures from Beijing show that China's CPI for August increased by 0.8 percent compared with August 2025. The boost mainly stemmed from a broader rise in energy costs, which were 4.1 percent higher than a year earlier. Gold jewelry prices surged 21.5 percent, and electronic devices such as tablets, computers and mobile phones also saw double‑digit gains. Food inflation turned negative at 1.4 percent, led by an 11.8 percent fall in pork prices. The August producer price index climbed 3.8 percent year‑on‑year, reflecting higher international oil and metal prices, business updates and seasonal effects.
