A Chinese mountaineer has died while descending from K2, the world’s second-highest peak, after successfully reaching its summit. The climber, identified as Guan Jing, lost his life when he was struck by falling rocks on Tuesday. The incident occurred as he was returning with his group following the summit on Monday. Efforts are underway to recover his body. K2, located in the Karakoram mountain range of Pakistan, stands at 8,611 meters (28,251 feet) and is notorious for its challenging terrain, steep slopes, unpredictable weather, and frequent rockfalls. This tragic event follows the recent death of German mountaineer and Olympic gold medalist Laura Dahlmeier, who died two weeks prior while climbing another peak in the region.
