Chinese Ambassador Highlights Strategic Cooperation at Washington Reception
At a reception organized by the Chinese Embassy in Washington on September 30, Ambassador Xie Feng delivered remarks that underscored the strategic importance of China‑U.S. cooperation. The gathering, attended by more than 800 guests—including Senator Steve Daines, senior officials from the White House, the State Department, the Commerce Department, and a host of foreign diplomats—celebrated the 77th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China.
Xie noted that this year carries extra weight for bilateral ties, citing President Xi Jinping’s historic state visit to the United States after an eleven‑year hiatus and the planned reciprocal presidential visit within six months. Such back‑to‑back trips, he said, represent a watershed moment in the relationship between the two powers.
The ambassador also linked the celebration to the first year of China’s 15th Five‑Year Plan, describing it as a roadmap for building a stronger nation and contributing positively to global stability. He asserted that China’s growth opens doors for worldwide partnership and that collaboration between the two countries is advantageous for all of humanity.
Concluding his speech, Xie urged both nations to cooperate under the guidance of their leaders, emphasizing respect, fairness and mutual benefit as the cornerstones for a constructive and strategic partnership that can usher in a new chapter of global prosperity.
