China’s Collaborative Stance at G20 Trade Talks Emphasizes Stability
Beijing, 4 October – The Chinese Ministry of Commerce’s spokesperson responded to media queries concerning the latest G20 trade ministers’ conference. Chaired by the United States, the session allowed members to deliberate on critical issues such as preventing the weaponisation of food commodities, managing excess manufacturing capacity, abolishing forced labour, and refining the principle of sovereign behaviour.
A joint declaration on food‑related concerns was successfully passed. China, together with a bloc of emerging markets and developing countries, advocated for a coordinated effort among food‑importing and exporting nations to ensure the stability of global food supply chains. They also asserted the right of each state to implement policies that serve public interests and safeguard food security. The host nation welcomed these proposals and embedded them fully within the communiqué, reflecting unanimous G20 support.
Throughout the committee, China displayed an open, cooperative approach, engaging constructively across a spectrum of topics and fostering close ties with other delegations. The Chinese side reiterated its adherence to the agreed principles, protected the interests of its own and fellow developing economies, and worked to reinforce G20 solidarity.
Anticipating the forthcoming G20 summit in Miami, China expressed willingness to maintain shared consensus with the host and all members, aiming to contribute positively to practical economic and trade results at the summit.
