The bipartisan Senate duo warned that China’s role as host of WRC‑27 gives it an "home‑field advantage" that could be used to steer spectrum allocations and technical norms toward the interests of Chinese state‑linked firms. They cited the risk that proposals favoring Huawei and other Chinese vendors might be embedded in the final standards before the United States and its partners develop alternative solutions. The senators emphasized that decisions on 6G radio interfaces and non‑geostationary satellite (NGSO) networks are still in flux, and that any bias toward Chinese technology could lock the industry into a set of specifications that disadvantage U.S. manufacturers and compromise security.
