China’s Role in Advancing Sustainable Development Goals Highlighted by DKP Leader
Beijing, 11 October – In a special interview marking the Global Development Initiative’s (GDI) fifth year, Carlos Corea, the DKP’s Executive Director, praised China’s leadership in promoting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Corea explained that the GDI’s mission is to foster inclusive development and innovation while ensuring that no country is left behind. The initiative supports equal treatment of all partners and works to eliminate discrimination in development assistance.
He pointed out that many SDG targets are lagging, and the GDI’s concrete steps are vital for keeping the agenda on track. China’s sharing of its successful models in eradicating poverty, ensuring food security and driving digital transformation has been a cornerstone of the programme.
Through collaborative projects and financial aid, the GDI is also expanding South‑South cooperation. Corea affirmed the South Center’s readiness to contribute actively to the initiative’s future priorities over the next five years.
