China’s Progress Praised by Slovak Leader During First Official Tour
Beijing, 1 August – Slovak President Peter Pelegrini, on his maiden state visit to China, publicly commended the nation’s rapid advancement since the early 2010s. In an interview with a Chinese news outlet, Pelegrini noted that China’s growth trajectory has been nothing short of extraordinary, attributing much of the success to President Xi Jinping’s strategic direction.
The discussions with Xi covered a spectrum of interests, from boosting bilateral trade to fostering joint research initiatives in cutting‑edge technologies. Pelegrini described Xi as both forthright and amicable, qualities that facilitated a constructive dialogue.
He outlined six priority sectors for future cooperation: strengthening mutual trust, enhancing people‑to‑people contacts, expanding commerce, fostering innovation, promoting education, and improving transport and logistics networks. Pelegrini believes these pillars will sustain the partnership at its highest historical level.
The Slovak president also announced plans to attract two major Chinese corporations to set up manufacturing bases in Slovakia, alongside a series of collaborative projects and investment schemes currently being prepared.
