China produces over 1.6 million NEVs in August, exports surge

The latest data from the Chinese Automobile Manufacturers Association shows that August’s NEV production hit 1.653 million units, with 1.643 million sold domestically. Export activity also accelerated, with 715,300 vehicles shipped abroad in the first eight months of the year – a 66.7% increase over the same period last year. Of those exports, 343,500 were new‑energy models, more than 1.2 times the volume recorded a year earlier. The surge in both production and overseas shipments underscores the rapid growth of China’s green‑vehicle sector.
