Canton Fair’s 70th Milestone Showcases China’s Openness, Says PM

Beijing, Oct 14 — Premier Li Qiang joined the celebration of the 70th anniversary of China’s flagship import‑export exhibition, the Canton Fair, held in Guangzhou’s Cantoncho district.

After a session with overseas buyers and exhibitor delegates, Li highlighted how the fair has evolved in tandem with China’s market liberalization. He described the event as a concrete illustration of the country’s willingness to engage internationally and a vital portal for the world to understand China’s economic reforms.

The premier identified three major trends that have emerged in recent editions. First, the shift from simple trade agreements to joint‑innovation collaborations, allowing partners to co‑develop cutting‑edge products. Second, the transition from trading to co‑investment, paving the way for deeper market penetration. Third, the rise of industrial and supply‑chain alliances that improve risk management and boost operational efficiency.

Li reaffirmed China’s dedication to protecting intellectual‑property rights, enhancing the foreign‑investment climate, and accelerating the build‑out of a modern industrial framework. He called on global firms to increase participation in the Chinese market and to forge practical, win‑win industrial partnerships.

Approximately 70 senior business figures from about 30 nations attended, describing the Canton Fair as one of the most reliable platforms for global commerce and expressing confidence in China’s continuing development potential.
