Industrial Robots and New Energy Vehicles Lead China’s Production Surge

The first six months of 2024 witnessed a pronounced boost in Chinese manufacturing output, driven primarily by industrial robots and new‑energy vehicles. Production of industrial robots reached 538,000 units, up 28 percent from the same period last year, according to ministry data. Meanwhile, new‑energy vehicle output climbed to 7.399 million units, reflecting a 6 percent increase.

These figures highlight the sector’s shift toward automation and sustainable mobility solutions. The broader electronic and information manufacturing industry also recorded a 14.8 percent rise in added value, surpassing both overall industrial growth (9.4 percent) and high‑tech manufacturing (1.5 percent).

Export performance remained resilient, with the cumulative export value of electronic information products rising 7.8 percent year‑on‑year, and a further 1.7 percent gain observed between January and May. Continued investment and policy backing are expected to sustain this upward trajectory through the remainder of the year.
