China's Eco‑legal Code Introduces Habitat Restoration Rules

For the first time, the code defines principles, procedures and priority areas for ecological restoration. Specific guidelines are provided for forests, grasslands, wetlands, marine zones, rivers, lakes and mining sites, each with tailored restoration requirements. These provisions mark a historic step in legally obligating the state and enterprises to repair degraded ecosystems and protect biodiversity.
