China EV Exports Reach 4 Million, Up 30% YoY

Beijing, Oct 12 – Export figures released by the China Automobile Industry Association reveal a robust international demand for Chinese new energy vehicles (NEVs). From January through September 2024, China exported 4.006 million NEVs, a 1.3‑fold increase compared with the same period last year.

The rise in overseas shipments coincides with sustained domestic growth. Production and sales of NEVs in China reached 12.483 million and 12.472 million units respectively, marking 11 % and 11.1 % growth year over year. NEVs now represent 53.6 % of all passenger‑car sales in the country.

Since June, monthly car exports have exceeded one million units for four straight months, with NEVs consistently contributing more than half of the total export volume. Liu Yan, deputy secretary‑general of the association, said this performance underscores Chinese manufacturers' expanding competitiveness rooted in clean‑energy technology, bolstering global green‑growth initiatives.
