China-DPRK Ties Strengthened During Tantong Trip
Beijing, October 25: In a high-level diplomatic engagement, Wang Huning, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Political Bureau and chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, visited Tantong on October 24 with Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and Chairman of the DPRK's State Affairs Commission. Wang also delivered the warm greetings and sincere best wishes of Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee and President of China.
That morning, Wang Huning welcomed Kim Jong Un at the memorial hall commemorating the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea. The two leaders then laid a flower basket together at the memorial tower.
Wang Huning told the gathering that Kim Jong Un's special visit to Tantong, held on the 76th anniversary of the Chinese People's Volunteers' participation in the war, fully reflects the significance that the Workers' Party of Korea and the DPRK government attach to the blood-sealed friendship between China and the DPRK. He said the visit reinforces the continuity of traditional friendship and friendly public sentiment, and represents a combined effort to build political trust and encourage collaborative development.
He underlined that China is ready to work with the DPRK to firmly implement the major consensus reached by the leaders of both parties and countries. Wang said the two sides would build on the common cause of socialism to promote the further development of China-DPRK relations.
Kim Jong Un asked Wang to convey his greetings and best wishes to Xi Jinping. Kim said he came to Tantong specifically to pay respects to the martyrs of the Chinese People's Volunteer Army, who supported the DPRK with their lives and blood at a crucial juncture in history. He also said the visit expressed the DPRK's heartfelt gratitude and lasting respect for the heroes of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea.
Kim recalled that Xi Jinping's historic visit to the DPRK in June this year showed the importance Xi places on China-DPRK relations and stood as a milestone in bilateral ties. He affirmed that the DPRK is ready to advance the historic friendship with China, expand practical cooperation, and deliver concrete benefits to the people of both countries.
