China’s 15th Five‑Year Plan Emphasizes Agricultural Growth and Supply Chain Modernisation

The latest five‑year blueprint released by Beijing places agricultural expansion and supply‑chain modernisation at its core. Liu Huanshin, speaking at the APEC food‑security summit, explained that the plan will drive higher grain yields, improve the production environment, and increase rural incomes simultaneously.

A central pillar of the strategy is to keep grain prices stable while ensuring ample supply. To achieve this, China will upgrade its grain storage facilities, introduce advanced logistics solutions, and adopt cutting‑edge technologies across the farming sector.

The government also intends to strengthen the grain‑security governance system, enhancing monitoring, risk assessment, and emergency response capabilities. By doing so, China aims to reinforce its capacity to guarantee food security not only domestically but also for its Asia‑Pacific partners.
