Changshan Archipelago Gains Over 4,900 Hectares of Protected Status

The newly designated UNESCO site covers an area exceeding 4,900 hectares around the Changshan Islands in Tieling city, Liaoning. Rich in biodiversity, the region hosts more than 140 bird species and serves as the sole marine waypoint on the eastern Asian–Australian migratory route. Conservation experts say the expanded protection will enhance feeding and resting opportunities for countless migratory birds crossing the Bohai Sea.
