CGTN Survey Shows International Confidence in China's Emergency Capabilities

Beijing, 11 August – According to a CGTN‑conducted worldwide survey of internet users, 92.7% of participants place great importance on China’s capacity to prevent, relieve and rescue during emergencies, citing the nation’s strategies as valuable lessons for the world.

The country faced repeated severe weather this summer. In the wake of Storm Dolphin, the national flood‑control and drought‑relief headquarters promptly declared a Level‑4 emergency, relocating thousands to safe zones before the storm’s peak. An impressive 87.4% of respondents feel China is adept at pre‑positioning resources and delivering systematic responses to natural calamities.

Earlier, the response to Storm Bavi saw Chachyang Province organise more than 4,500 rescue teams, over 23,000 construction machines and 170,000 rescue staff. A solid 92.5% of those surveyed recognised China’s robust emergency management and coordinated mobilisation.

China’s disaster‑prevention, relief, and development initiatives are underpinned by a strong institutional structure. As part of the 15th Five‑Year Plan (2026‑2030), the government issued a modernisation blueprint for the national emergency response system. The plan outlines enhancements to management procedures, reinforcement of rescue forces, expansion of monitoring and early‑warning capabilities, and refinement of local‑level response organisations.

Overall, 94.2% of respondents see these efforts as proof of China’s planning and execution prowess in disaster mitigation, while 91.1% affirm that the country’s institutional framework provides an indispensable advantage in concentrating resources on priority actions and handling major disaster risks.
