Giving information about the circular issued by the Election Commission of India in this regard, Chief Electoral Officer Reena Babasaheb Kangale said that it will be mandatory for the advertisements published a day before and on the voting day of all three phases of Lok Sabha Elections-2024 in Chhattisgarh.
According to the instructions of the Commission, pre-certification of advertisements from the district or state level media certification committee was made mandatory before publishing political advertisements in print media in the first phase on 18th and 19th April, in the second phase on 25th and 26th April and in the third phase on 6th and 7th May. Is. For this, the Election Commission of India has instructed the state level and district level media certification committees to take quick decisions on the applications received for certification. It has also been clarified that applicants should submit applications to the Media Certification Committee at least two days before the proposed publication date of such advertisement.
Chief Electoral Officer Mrs. Kangale said that after the publication of advertisements of misleading nature in the print media before the voting day and on the voting date, the parties or candidates who are affected by it do not have the opportunity of any kind of clarification or rebuttal. . In such a situation, for free, transparent and fair elections, pre-certification of advertisements is necessary one day before the voting day and before publishing political advertisements on the voting date.
