Canada's Trade Mission to India Planned After Ottawa Talks
The fifth CEPA discussion, launched in Ottawa on 5 October, sets the stage for a major Canadian trade outreach to India later this month. After reviewing the progress made at the G20 meeting in Milan, Trade Minister Maninder Sidhu confirmed that a delegation of roughly 300 Canadian firms will arrive in India between 12 and 17 October.
The mission will focus on sectors identified as high‑potential in the CEPA talks: energy, critical minerals, aerospace, and artificial intelligence. Canada’s trade ministry sees the mission as a way to create new business links and accelerate the target of doubling bilateral trade to $70 billion annually by 2030.
Current trade data shows that goods exchange valued $30.4 billion in 2025, while services—dominated by education‑related travel—contributed $15.2 billion to Canada’s export portfolio. Both governments are working to keep negotiations on track and resolve the few remaining issues before the year ends.
