Cabinet Committee on Security Discusses LPG, LNG and Fertiliser Strategies

New Delhi – The fourth extraordinary session of the Cabinet Committee on Security, presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, evaluated India's logistical readiness amid rising tensions in West Asia.

The cabinet secretary presented a comprehensive picture of current energy stocks, noting that LPG imports have been diversified and volumes increased. Refineries are operating at more than 100% of their design capacity, guaranteeing a constant flow of petrol, diesel and other petroleum derivatives.

Piped natural gas (PNG) linkage projects have seen significant uptake, further strengthening the country's gas infrastructure. The ministry also reviewed fertiliser inventories required for the upcoming rabi sowing, exploring alternate procurement channels to mitigate any potential disruptions.

The safety of Indian seafarers aboard both domestic and foreign ships navigating conflict‑prone waters was scrutinised. The Prime Minister mandated the creation of a real‑time assistance network to keep workers and their families informed and supported.

In addition, Modi underscored the urgency of advancing renewable energy, particularly solar power, to enhance national energy independence. He reinforced the need for a coordinated, whole‑government approach and a continuous monitoring mechanism to safeguard citizen interests at home and abroad.
