Regarding the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) passed in 2019, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said during a TV program, ‘CAA is the law of the country, it will definitely be notified. CAA has to be implemented before the elections so no one should have any confusion in this.

He said, ‘Our Muslim brothers are being misled and instigated against CAA. CAA is meant to grant citizenship only to those who have come to India after facing persecution in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh. This is not to take away anyone’s Indian citizenship.
