Burundi President Represents African Union at 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi

Burundi’s head of state, President Évariste Ndayishimiye, travelled to Delhi to represent the African Union at the BRICS summit. He was received by Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Bhupatiraj Shrinivas Verma. The Indian foreign ministry noted that India and the African Union are intensifying cooperation to advance the shared priorities of the Global South.

President Ndayishimiye’s participation signals a deepening political and economic dialogue between Africa and the BRICS bloc, with particular focus on trade facilitation, sustainable development and health security.
