Brussels Rebukes Moscow Over Kyiv Attack Warnings

The European Union has taken a firm diplomatic stance by calling in Russia’s top envoy in Brussels following Moscow’s latest threats against Kyiv. Officials say the Russian warnings, which include calls for diplomats and international staff to evacuate, cross a red line. EU foreign-policy spokeswoman Anita Hipper described the situation as unacceptable and confirmed ongoing support for Ukraine’s defense needs. The backdrop includes a reported Ukrainian drone strike on a vocational college in Starobilsk that left dozens dead or wounded, many of them teenagers. Russian officials have used the incident to justify continued strikes on Ukrainian military facilities. Kyiv and its Western partners reject these justifications, stressing that civilian infrastructure must remain off-limits. While the EU pledges to sustain its Kyiv operations, ministers will gather in Cyprus to discuss tightening sanctions and boosting military assistance. Norway has also signaled its disapproval by summoning the Russian ambassador in Oslo over the same threats.
