BRICS Countries Aim to Strengthen Traditional Medicine Collaboration at Chandigarh Summit

Representatives from 21 BRICS nations gathered in Chandigarh for a high‑level TCIM summit, marking a decisive step toward deeper cooperation in traditional health systems. The summit seeks to exchange experiences, harmonise regulatory frameworks and boost joint research programmes that validate the efficacy of traditional remedies.

Among the focal points are preventive health services, mental health support, tuberculosis research, and the development of a unified digital health architecture. The ministers will also review progress made in nine priority areas identified in the BRICS health agenda, ranging from pandemic preparedness to regulatory coordination for medicines.

A major outcome expected from the meeting is a consensus on protecting and promoting traditional medical knowledge while integrating it seamlessly with contemporary health solutions, thereby creating a more resilient global health landscape.
