BRICS Telecom Ministers Endorse Joint Digital Infrastructure Drive

At the 12th meeting of BRICS telecom ministers, the Indian and Brazilian delegations signed an ICT memorandum that will steer a coordinated push for digital infrastructure across the bloc. The document, signed by ministers Jyotiraditya M. Sindhia and Frederico D. Siqueira Filho, calls for collaborative research on resilient networks, satellite‑based connectivity, and climate‑friendly data centres.

The accord also stresses safeguarding user privacy while expanding online services for underserved populations. Participants from governmental bodies, industry chambers, and academic circles engaged in panels discussing cyber‑security standards and child‑online safety.

The joint effort is expected to set a template for other BRICS nations, promoting a secure, inclusive, and sustainable digital ecosystem that aligns with global best practices.
