BRICS summit to adopt roadmap on representation, accountability, rule‑making

At a session titled “Strengthening inclusive global governance and multilateralism,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi outlined a three‑point strategy for the BRICS nations. The first pillar, representation, calls for urgent reform of the United Nations Security Council and a re‑balancing of voting rights in institutions such as the IMF and World Bank.

The second pillar, accountability, proposes the creation of a “BRICS Emergency Support Network” to enable rapid collective responses to humanitarian and economic crises. Modi said the network would streamline coordination and ensure that assistance reaches affected populations swiftly.

The third pillar, rule‑making, focuses on joint participation in drafting standards for emerging technologies – artificial intelligence, cyber‑space, outer‑space activities, and biotechnology. By sharing the rule‑making table, BRICS members can prevent a dominance of any single bloc over future regulatory frameworks.
