Brazil and Russia Share Insights on Traditional Medicine at BRICS Health Gathering

At the ongoing BRICS TCIM summit in Chandigarh, representatives from Brazil and Russia delivered focused presentations on the role of traditional medicine in their respective health systems.

Brazilian diplomat Camila Mendel Barros outlined the country’s strategy to build a scientific base for traditional practices, develop appropriate regulatory frameworks and promote public confidence in the safety and efficacy of these therapies.

Russia’s noted quantum physicist A. Marchenkova described the nation’s longstanding folk‑medicine traditions, which include apitherapy, hirudotherapy, health‑resort treatments and the utilization of natural resources. She also highlighted the popularity of yoga and manual therapy methods within Russian medical centers, noting their integration with conventional care.

Both delegations emphasized the importance of collaborative research, capacity building and the exchange of best practices as the BRICS community moves toward a more integrated health landscape.
