Sources close to the BNP say that party secretary‑general and minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has signed the nomination consent form for the presidential race. The party is expected to make a formal announcement of his candidacy on Wednesday or Thursday.
