BMA Reports 57 Cases Resolved, 33 Under Investigation in Q3
In a briefing at OR Tambo International Airport, BMA Commissioner Michael Masiyapato revealed that 57 corruption‑related cases were closed during the previous quarter, covering internal rule breaches, fraud and bribery. Meanwhile, 33 further matters remain under active departmental investigation. The crackdown follows earlier SIU findings that the immigration system had been turned into a “marketplace” where higher payments secured permits and visas.
The Department of Home Affairs confirmed that more than 2,000 study visas were issued through fraudulent channels, prompting an administrative process to cancel them. These actions form part of a broader migration management strategy adopted by the government in June.
