Bilateral Ties Strengthened as Dinesh Trivedi Attends Bangladesh Durga Puja
Dhaka, 19 October – India’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Dinesh Trivedi, reinforced diplomatic bonds by attending multiple Durga Puja events across the capital on Monday. The official’s itinerary included the Gulshan‑Banani Sarbajanin Puja Foundation celebration, a visit to the historic Ramna Kali Temple and a session at the University of Dhaka’s Jagannath Hall, where he interacted with students and faculty.
Trivedi’s participation continued on Sunday at the Baridhara DOHS Convention Centre, where he extended blessings to the organising committee and the broader community. The High Commissioner, a former central minister, was appointed on 27 April 2026 and took charge on 12 June 2026, and since then has focused on deepening India‑Bangladesh relations through cultural diplomacy.
Speaking at a panel titled “Power and Prudence: Managing Great‑Power Competition Without Conflict” during the ongoing "Bengal Conversation," Trivedi emphasized that open discussion of issues such as water sharing, trade, culture, sports, communication and transport is essential for lasting cooperation. His presence at the Durga Puja celebrations underscores the role of shared festivals in building trust and goodwill between the neighboring nations.
