Bengaluru Authorities Hand Over Bangladeshi Detainees to West Bengal Officials

Thirty‑one Bangladeshi citizens, arrested in multiple Bengaluru precincts, were handed over to West Bengal authorities on Wednesday morning. The hand‑over took place at the Malda holding centre, marking the next phase of their deportation under the state’s anti‑illegal immigration drive. Police statements indicated that the suspects were apprehended from ten different police stations during a citywide operation targeting undocumented foreign nationals. Prior to the transfer, Bengaluru police coordinated with their West Bengal counterparts to complete required formalities. The Karnataka Police Commissioner appealed for public assistance in identifying further illegal entrants while warning against taking law enforcement into private hands. The convoy, consisting of twenty officers, escorted the detainees from the SMVT Bengaluru terminal to Malda. This action is part of a larger campaign, Operation Mukt, which has seen numerous raids across Karnataka aimed at curbing illegal migration.
