Beijing Display Board Shows Recent Visits of North Korea’s Leader

On July 1, the external information panel of the North Korean embassy in Beijing received a comprehensive visual update. The board now hosts twenty‑five fresh photographs, with a large central image of Kim Jong-un surrounded by twelve smaller pictures on each flank.

The collection traces the leader’s activities from 2016 through early 2024, highlighting inspection tours, agricultural visits and infrastructure ceremonies. Notably, two images from this year depict Kim at a livestock farm and later attending a project inauguration with his daughter Jue.

Jue’s representation on the board has risen to six photographs, a noticeable increase from the three shown in March, though her identity remains unlabelled.

Experts interpret the board as a strategic tool for Pyongyang to project a controlled image of leadership continuity and domestic priorities to foreign observers passing by the embassy.

Earlier iterations of the board have displayed iconic moments such as the 2018 trilateral summit with South Korea, the United States and China, reaffirming its function as a curated diplomatic showcase.
