Bangladesh’s loosely organised Tauhidi Janata linked to Hamas propaganda surge

New Delhi, July 6 – Recent intelligence reports show a spike in pro‑Hamas propaganda across Bangladesh, traced back to the radical collective known as Tauhidi Janata. The group, which has resurfaced after periods of dormancy, is known for its sporadic attacks on Sufi dargahs and its public displays of Islamic State and al‑Qaeda banners.

Sources say the Palestinian movement is supplying Tauhidi Janata with narrative material aimed at highlighting the Palestinian cause, while the Bangladeshi network circulates the content through Facebook pages, Twitter threads and street rallies featuring the Kalma flag.

Officials emphasize that Tauhidi Janata lacks a cohesive command chain; its members operate in ad‑hoc “sleeper cells” that make detection difficult. The group’s fluid affiliations – sometimes aligning with IS, at other times with al‑Qaeda – provide Hamas with a ready‑made platform to amplify its message without exposing its own operatives.

Analysts warn that the collaboration could embolden other fringe elements in the subcontinent, increasing the risk of sectarian violence and destabilising the region’s security architecture.
