Balochistan Probe Demanded After Disappearances and Killings

Multiple cases of alleged enforced disappearances and killings have been reported from Balochistan, raising questions about the conduct of security forces in the province. Local media reports allege that at least six civilians, including two drivers, were taken away by Pakistani security personnel in separate incidents in Kech district, while bodies of four people have been recovered from different locations.

The first case concerns Asad, a 33-year-old driver. According to The Balochistan Post, Pakistani army personnel allegedly took him from his home in Nokeen Kohan, Mand, on the night of October 21. He has not been seen since.

Similarly, Afzal, a 41-year-old driver, was allegedly taken by Frontier Corps personnel from Seri Kalag, Gwarkop, at around 3 am on October 19. His family has no information about his location.

Local sources reported that during escalating operations, Pakistani forces raided several homes in the Gobard area of Mand at night and detained four young men, who were taken to an unknown place. Sources added that the house of Sheikari Peer Muhammad was raided at about 2 am, where women and children were harassed and Sameer Nasir was taken away. At another home, cash and belongings were seized and Waseem, son of Sattar, was detained. Sagheer and Zaheer, sons of Sawal Muhammad, were also picked up. None of the four has been traced.

Similar complaints recently emerged from Nushki, where residents accused FC personnel of mistreating detainees and keeping their cash. When asked about the money, personnel allegedly said, 'Leave the matter of money to God.'

In Tump tehsil of Kech, the body of Bilal Baloch of Kohad was recovered from the Hoshkabad area on Friday. He had been detained by Pakistani forces from Kohad bazaar four days earlier. Sources said Adeel Baloch, also of Kohad, was detained in the same incident, and his body had been found in recent days.

In a separate case, a young man's body with bullet injuries was discovered near the Talar Hotel on the Pasni-Kulanch link road. A slip of paper with the name 'Rehan' was found in his pocket, but his identity remains unconfirmed. Sources said he had been seized by armed men.

In Jhal Magsi district, Irfan Ali Dinari's body was recovered from Ghatrah in Gandava tehsil. He had been abducted by armed men from the Darabhi area of Kharri. In Khuzdar district, the body of Muhammad Younus, son of Muhammad Yousuf Gulamani, was recovered from the Khattan river, and the cause of death is still unknown.
