Australia and Japan Extend Warm Wishes on India's 80th Independence Day

Sydney, 15 August – Australia’s Foreign Minister Penny Wong sent a personal message to Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar, wishing India a joyous 80th Independence Day. Wong’s post, accompanied by a photo of the two ministers, emphasized the growing closeness of the two nations and their joint commitment to peace, stability, and prosperity.

In Tokyo, Japanese Ambassador to India Ono Keichi also posted a congratulatory note on X, praising India’s rich cultural tapestry, diverse society, and dynamic spirit. He followed the text post with a Hindi‑language video greeting in which he said, “Namaste India, a heartfelt congratulations on your Independence Day.”

The ambassador’s diplomatic team was shown holding the Indian flag at the end of the video, an emblem of the friendship shared between Japan and India.
