Former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad was reportedly targeted in an attempted poisoning in Russia. Assad was hospitalized, and his condition is now reported as stable. He was removed from power in Syria 10 months prior to the incident and has been residing in Moscow, Russia, under the protection of the Russian government. The alleged poisoning is believed to be an attempt to discredit Russia and place blame for the assassination. According to reports, Assad has been discharged from the hospital near Moscow. His brother, Maher, visited him in the hospital. The Russian government has yet to comment on the matter.
