Armenia-India Strategic Defence Dialogue Set for High-Level Meetings

In a move to cement strategic ties, India’s Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh is set to hold a series of high‑level meetings with Armenia’s political and military leadership during his Yerevan visit.

The dialogue will focus on aligning defence strategies, sharing intelligence on regional security challenges, and synchronising procurement plans. Both nations have expressed a desire to create a joint task force that can oversee future projects in defence manufacturing.

Recent collaborations have already included the supply of Indian small arms and training modules for Armenian troops. The upcoming talks aim to expand that framework to include naval and air‑force capabilities.

The timing of the visit is significant, as it comes after the April 2026 meeting between Armenian General Staff Chief Lieutenant General Edward Asryan and Defence Secretary Singh, which ended with a pledge to deepen cooperation.

Experts suggest that the Yerevan meetings could pave the way for a long‑term defence partnership, potentially involving co‑development of missile technology and joint participation in multilateral security forums.
