Annual India-Australia Leaders’ Summit marks third consecutive meeting

The upcoming summit in Melbourne will be the third India‑Australia Leaders’ Summit, a rare format where heads of state alternate visits each year.

Prime Minister Modi’s arrival follows former Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s trip to New Delhi, mirroring earlier engagements with Japan and Russia. Singh said this continuity reflects the deepening and maturing relationship between the two countries.

During the summit, leaders are expected to review progress on the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, discuss defence cooperation, trade expansion and joint initiatives in clean energy and innovation.

The High Commissioner called the summit a “strategic checkpoint” that reinforces shared commitments and sets the agenda for future collaborations across multiple sectors.
