Ambassador Azar: Six Values Power India-Israel Bond

Reuven Azar, Israel’s top diplomat in New Delhi, outlined six guiding principles that define the unique bond between India and Israel. In a video posted on platform X, he explained that civilizational endurance stands at the heart of this relationship. Both peoples, he noted, have withstood centuries of attempts to erase their identities yet continue to revive their national consciousness in modern democratic states. The second principle is the joint battle against extremism and terrorism. Azar stressed that radical ideologies pose existential threats, prompting decades of collaborative security measures that have strengthened both countries’ resilience. Democratic values represent the third pillar. Azar praised India’s status as the largest democracy and highlighted how freedoms of expression and enterprise reinforce mutual trust and cooperation. Innovation and global competitiveness comprise the fourth value. The ambassador observed that both nations excel at turning ideas into practical solutions and are now pooling resources to build more dynamic economies. Religious tolerance forms the fifth principle. He remarked that India has historically welcomed Jewish communities without anti-Semitic prejudice, reflecting a shared commitment to coexistence and spiritual heritage. Inclusive development is the sixth and final value. Azar said both governments focus on ensuring that disadvantaged groups, including persons with disabilities, participate fully in economic progress. He urged continued investment to embed these values deeper into bilateral initiatives for lasting impact.
