Albanese Praises Indian Community’s Role in Australia’s Multicultural Fabric

During the Melbourne Meets Modi celebration, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese publicly commended the Indian diaspora for its indispensable contribution to the country’s multicultural identity. Speaking to a crowd of thousands at Marvel Stadium, he called the community a “living bridge” linking India and Australia.

Albanese pointed out that Indian Australians are at the forefront of innovation in health services, information technology, small‑business entrepreneurship, and higher education. Their commitment, he said, strengthens Australia’s economy and adds layers of cultural richness.

He also reminisced about his own experiences in India, recalling two trips that left a lasting impression of the nation’s diversity and warmth. “When Prime Minister Modi welcomed me in Gujarat, we rode a chariot together at the Narendra Modi Stadium – a memory that reflects the camaraderie we see today in Melbourne,” Albanese recalled.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the relationship between the two nations is not limited to official agreements but thrives on the everyday interactions of their people.
