Aftershock Count Surpasses 1,500 as Rescue Efforts Continue

Since the 6.1 magnitude earthquake on Tuesday, seismologists have recorded at least 1,576 aftershocks across the affected region of Sumatra. The National Disaster Management Agency confirmed a rising death toll of 68, with the highest fatalities in Maimangrai (26), East Manggarai (24), Nagekeo (8), Sikka (4) and one each in Ende, West Manggarai and Ngada.
More than 200 people remain injured, and emergency teams continue to provide medical assistance. The Indonesian military is actively delivering relief packages to remote communities, while power restoration has reached 99.5 % in western and eastern Flores and 95.4 % across the rest of the island.
