Deadly Crashes Across Afghanistan: Badakhshan, Faryab, Farah

A series of deadly road accidents has been reported across Afghanistan, with fatalities and injuries recorded in the north and west of the country.

In the latest incident, four people were killed and eight others injured in Badakhshan, a remote and mountainous province in northern Afghanistan. Local media reported the crash on Sunday, citing police. A local official said the vehicle was traveling toward the Kofab and Yaftal districts. Authorities have not yet identified the cause, and the injured have been admitted to the provincial hospital.

Geography and infrastructure play a significant role in road safety in Badakhshan. The province is sparsely populated, with uneven terrain and a limited road network, which has historically contributed to frequent accidents.

The broader transport situation in Afghanistan remains difficult, and road accidents occur regularly.

The incidents follow a string of crashes in recent days. On October 23, a serious accident was reported in a district of northern Afghanistan. On Friday evening, a minibus left the road in Faryab province, injuring 24 people, including women and children, with some in critical condition. Passengers were heading to a wedding in Khaiber district. Police said driver negligence, overloading and reckless driving on a crowded road were responsible.

In Farah province in western Afghanistan, a vehicle overturned after leaving the road on Friday. Three passengers died and two others were injured, according to a local police officer. The crash occurred on the outskirts of Farah Road district, and the driver's carelessness was blamed. The three victims died at the scene.

Security personnel moved the injured to nearby hospitals, officials said.
