Act East Policy Boosts India’s Pacific Partnerships with Solomon Islands

India's Act East Policy has accelerated engagement with Pacific Island nations, and the Solomon Islands are a focal point of that outreach. Under the framework of the Forum for India‑Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC), leaders from both sides have discussed trade, security, and sustainable development.

During the 2025 FIPIC summit, Indian officials expressed gratitude for Solomon Islands' cooperation in health, education, and logistics, citing the donation of a dialysis unit, assistance during the Covid‑19 pandemic, and logistical support for the 2023 Pacific Games.

Former Foreign Minister Shenoy Agovaka highlighted the importance of these contributions, noting that India's partnership extends beyond aid to capacity‑building initiatives that empower Pacific communities.

The Act East thrust continues to shape strategic outreach, positioning India as a key development partner for the Solomon Islands and other Pacific archipelagos.
