AAP councilor Vijay Kumar faces BJP backlash after MCD sweeper's alleged forced suicide

A protest organized by Delhi BJP members on September 20 targeted AAP councilor Vijay Kumar over the suicide of Deepak, a sweeper employed by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. The party alleges that Kumar coerced the worker into taking his own life. The rally outside the AAP office featured speeches by MP Yogendra Chandolia and coordination by state vice‑presidents Rajesh Bhatia and Sunil Yadav. Deepak’s widow Sangeeta, with her small daughter, joined the demonstrators demanding accountability. Protesters chanted accusations against Kumar, while police tried to contain the crowd with two barricades that were soon breached. Police later detained Chandolia, MLA Ravindra Negi, councilor Priyanka Gautam and other senior figures at Tilak Marg police station, releasing them after a brief warning. Chandolia demanded an immediate investigation, punitive action against those responsible, and the removal of Vijay Kumar from the AAP.
