Over 50 Scientists From 10 Institutions Survey Cross‑Border Landslide Aftermath
More than fifty scientists representing ten leading academic and research organizations are on the ground in the disaster zone, conducting field measurements and sample collection. Their work targets the intricate processes that convert glacial meltwater surges into large‑scale rock and soil flows, eventually forming hazardous debris torrents that travelled across the border into the Gyirong area of Tibet. By logging stratigraphic layers, measuring pore‑water pressure, and analyzing mineral composition, the team seeks to reconstruct the timeline of the event and identify trigger points. Findings will be compiled into a comprehensive report to aid governments in refining risk‑assessment models and improving cross‑border emergency response protocols.
