Police were summoned to Brook Ivy Court shortly after 2:30 AM following gunfire reports. Inside the home, they found four victims with fatal gunshot wounds. The scene suggested a heated domestic argument had escalated tragically.
Three children inside the house at the time showed remarkable presence of mind, hiding in a closet. One child managed to call for help, which expedited the police arrival. With concerns the perpetrator could be hiding nearby, canine units swept the area and located the suspect in adjacent woods.
Identified as 51-year-old Vijay Kumar of Atlanta, the alleged shooter was arrested peacefully. The deceased include his 43-year-old wife Meemu Dogra, 33-year-old Gaurav Kumar, 37-year-old Nidhi Chandar, and 38-year-old Harish Chandar, all from Lawrenceville.
Reports indicate the dispute ignited at the couple’s Atlanta residence before they drove to Brook Ivy Court with their 12-year-old son. The children emerged unscathed and were handed over to family care.
On X, the Consulate shared, ‘Deeply saddened by the shooting linked to a family dispute involving an Indian national. Suspect arrested; every possible aid extended to victims’ families.’
