amsung is yet to release its first Galaxy Fold smartphone, but there are already talks about a second one in the pipeline. According to a new Bloomberg report, Samsung is looking to launch its second foldable phone early next year. One key feature about the Galaxy Fold successor will be that it will fold into a square to make it more compact. It could also be more affordable than the Galaxy Fold.
According to the report, the next foldable device will sport a 6.7-inch display on the inside that will fold inwards into a square like a clamshell. Bloomberg cites people familiar with the product’s developments, who say that Samsung is looking to make the next Galaxy Fold will be more affordable and thinner than the current Fold. Samsung is reportedly collaborating with American designer Thom Browne on designing the Galaxy Fold 2.
The launch of the next foldable smartphone from Samsung will depend on how the current Fold fares in the market. The Galaxy Fold was supposed to release in select markets earlier this year, but Samsung had to delay the launch due to issues with the foldable display and hinge design. The South Korean tech giant announced recently that it has fixed the problems and is ready to launch the Galaxy Fold in September. As per a tweet by tipster Evan Blass, the Galaxy Fold will likely release on September 27.
