USBRL corridor gains faster service as minister announces 100 km/h limit

The Union Railway Ministry declared that the USBRL (Udhampur‑Srinagar‑Baramulla Rail Link) project has achieved a critical operational milestone. By raising the speed cap to 100 km per hour on the Katra‑Banihal section, the corridor will now support quicker train movements, directly benefiting the Kashmir valley’s connectivity to the rest of India. The Vande Bharat Express, running under numbers 26401 and 26404, successfully completed the trial at the new speed, navigating the towering Chenab Bridge and the newly built Anji cable‑stayed bridge without issues. Officials anticipate that the speed raise will cut journey durations, improve safety standards, and make rail travel more comfortable for passengers along this high‑altitude route.
