Top States Lead Manufacturing Employment Surge, Tamil Nadu Tops Facility Count

The survey highlighted Tamil Nadu as the state with the highest number of manufacturing units – 41,221 establishments – followed by Gujarat (33,084) and Maharashtra (27,379).

In terms of employment, the top five states – Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana – together accounted for more than 56 percent of total manufacturing jobs in 2024‑25. Their share underscores the regional concentration of industrial activity and the importance of these states in the nation’s job creation agenda.

The rise in wages and allowances for workers also accelerated, with total compensation climbing 12.08 percent over the previous fiscal year.
