Semicon India 2026 Highlights India's Rising Chip Industry

The Semicon India 2026 conference, held in the capital on September 17, served as a showcase for the country’s accelerating semiconductor landscape. Delegates from both domestic firms and global technology giants gathered to acknowledge India’s expanding capabilities in chip manufacturing, design, and cutting‑edge research.

Sandeep Kumar, CEO of L&T Semiconductor Technologies Ltd, told IANS that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech provided a clear and future‑oriented vision. Kumar praised the Prime Minister’s ability to weave together artificial intelligence, semiconductor development, energy, and broader technological growth into a cohesive strategy, underscoring his forward‑thinking leadership.

T.P. Singh, Vice President of Sales for TeleDyne FLIR’s Asia‑Pacific Instrumentation Division, described the event as a powerful global stage that attracted a strong contingent of leading semiconductor and technology companies. Singh, attending for the first time, noted that the robust presence of international players signals India’s growing importance as a central node in the worldwide chip supply chain.

Infosys’s Yagnaswami Yagna Narayanan, VP and Delivery Head, highlighted that this edition of Semicon India was markedly larger than its predecessor. He emphasized the rapid advancement of India’s semiconductor mission and commended the depth of the Prime Minister’s address, which covered the entire value chain—from design concepts to tape‑out and next‑generation technologies—providing an inspiring roadmap for future growth.
