Semicon India 2026 Highlights Growing Global Interest in India's Chip Landscape
New Delhi, 23 September – The Semicon India 2026 exhibition underscored a surge in worldwide attention toward India’s semiconductor and electronics ecosystem. An official fact sheet released after the summit noted that industry leaders from across the value chain are united in building a globally competitive electronics and semiconductor sector.
Investments are pouring in, manufacturing capacity is being expanded, and multinational corporations are enlarging their Indian operations. This confluence is propelling the ecosystem forward at an extraordinary pace.
Speakers stressed that the forthcoming development phase cannot rely on a single segment. Semiconductor design, component fabrication, materials, packaging and end‑use applications are increasingly interlinked, making cross‑sector collaboration essential.
A central theme was the integration of chips into devices and systems to unlock value, rather than keeping them as isolated components. Progress in fabrication needs advanced materials and equipment, while manufacturing leans on robust packaging, testing and broader electronics expertise.
Leaders advocated for a sustained community mechanism that nurtures ongoing dialogue, coordinates actions among varied organisations and drives collective responses to national priorities. Existing bodies should pool their strengths on a unified platform to tackle shared value‑chain issues.
The “silicon‑to‑systems” vision received renewed emphasis, linking design, fabrication, packaging, electronics and technology solutions into a resilient, adaptable ecosystem. Over 600 exhibitors, including about 300 international firms, demonstrated the mounting global interest in India’s semiconductor future.
The conference also featured 56 MoUs, strategic launches and industry declarations covering manufacturing, AI, R&D, logistics and skill development. Production‑Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes and the India Semiconductor Mission are reinforcing domestic capabilities. Under the Semicon India programme, the government has approved 12 semiconductor projects, with five commercial units already operational by September 2026.
